In-Studio Recap: Zella Day
by: Andy Milligan and Molly Naudi

The talented Zella Day took time away from working on her forthcoming album to spend some time with our DJ Trip during his Sonic Roulette Radio program. Zella treated us to two brand new tunes and we got a chance to visit for a bit after her performance. Topics covered Zella’s debut album “Kicker”, what it was like playing Coachella 2016, what to expect from her next album and being able to play with such artists like Nahko and Medicine for the People. Zella’s new album is scheduled for release during the second half of 2017. It looks to be something quite special.

- Andy Milligan, Host of Sonic Roulette (Tuesdays 8-10 pm)

Having played Zella Day on my radio show several times and catching her set at Coachella 2016, I knew her presence in-studio at KUCI was not to be missed. Zella treated us to two acoustic tracks, one yet-to-be-titled, and the other, “Man on the Moon,” her latest single. The sweetness and authenticity of her voice were complemented by the stripped-down accompaniment, a side of Zella I could more fully appreciate during her live performance. KUCI is privileged to have Zella Day in-studio, and we will be on the look out for more new music to come!
